Overview

In Camilla Luihn's exhibition What is Left, she has taken inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman floor mosaics where food remains and rubbish are depicted. These were called unpaved floors (asàrotos òikos) and may have been a visual proof of abundance and wealth. Other interpretations may be that it was food for the dead, as an early example of memento mori.
