Solo recital featuring one of the foremost young violinists of our time
Charlie Siem was born and raised in London by his Norwegian father and British mother. He began playing the violin as a three-year-old, and was educated at the prestigious Eton College, the University of Cambridge and London's Royal College of Music. He has been mentored by violinist Shlomo Mintz since 2004.
Siem has appeared with orchestras such as the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, Camerata Salzburg and the London Symphony, to name just a few. He has worked with conductors including Charles Dutoit, Edward Gardner and Zubin Mehta. He appears regularly at festivals all over the world, often together with pianist Itamar Golan.
Siem is passionate about bringing classical music to a new audience. He has revived the age-old violin tradition of composing virtuoso variations on popular themes, working with artists including Bryan Adams, Jamie Cullum and The Who.
