Every day at 18:00, the Christmas Market in Trondheim is filled with beautiful singing and warm Christmas spirit as choirs from across the region take the stage at Torvet. On weekends, we often have additional concerts at 13:00, featuring exciting performances for the whole family. Here you can experience everything from traditional Christmas carols to fresh and modern choral music – the perfect accompaniment to a cup of mulled wine and your holiday shopping.

This Saturday, we welcome Balkan Ensemble, who present parts of the rich and unique musical traditions of the Balkan countries through song. The ensemble has existed since February 2022 and consists of conductor and accordionist Svetlana Krstić Aksnes (Serbia), Kristina Cepkenovic Karlsen (Kosovo), Jelena Radinovic (Serbia), Tiril Havdal (Norway), Kristina Jane Murdin (Sweden), and Aya Gil (The Netherlands).

Balkan Ensemble shares their passion for the exciting rhythms and harmonies found in Balkan music. The repertoire ranges from lively, festive songs that invite dancing and celebration, to more melancholic pieces shaped by the region’s dramatic history. If you want to experience music with close-knit tonalities, irregular time signatures, expressive dissonances, and distinctive vocal techniques, you won’t want to miss their performance.
