Saturday, December 20: Olavs MennThis evening, we welcome Olavs Menn – the Singing Life Guard.
Olavs Menn is the life guard of Olav Tryggvason, consisting of 25 proud men from various parts of Trøndelag who prefer to use their vocal cords rather than spears and shields. The choir was formed in 2008 when the members participated in the performance of the opera Thora at the Norwegian National Opera in Oslo, where Olav Tryggvason is a central figure.
Since then, the choir has stayed together, first under the musical leadership of Harald Bjørkøy and now under Lars Eggen, both skilled conductors and professional singers. The repertoire is firmly rooted in classical male choir music, ranging from powerful works by Grieg and Bjørnson to delicate and atmospheric ballads. Their goal is to convey compelling stories through words and music.
