Christel Alsos Christmas Concerts: A Beloved Tradition

Over the past decade, Christel Alsos’ Christmas concerts have become a cherished tradition—not just for her audience, but for the artist herself. In 2023, she celebrated the 10th anniversary of her album I den kalde vinter by releasing a selection of new Christmas songs.

Christel shares how fortunate she feels to return to this music each year. It has become a personal tradition for the singer from Fauske, deeply intertwined with her own holiday celebrations.

"Christmas concerts are so unique in how they bring people together more broadly than other times of the year. Multiple generations come, and many who might not usually be part of my regular audience attend these concerts."

The Christmas music and concerts provide Christel with a sense of purpose, offering a momentary escape into a warm and safe world, one that exists only during the concert or when listening to the music. It's a fleeting, magical moment that contributes to the indescribable Christmas spirit.

"I don’t need to believe in Santa Claus to believe that Christmas has its own special atmosphere. For most people, it’s a time filled with good memories, togetherness, and hope—hope for a wonderful time with loved ones, for the new year, for the future. Hope for both one’s own world and the entire world."
