CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD – A CELEBRATION OF TRADITIONS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE

Welcome to Christmas Around the World at the Trondheim Christmas Market! Every day from 16:00–19:00, ten different countries invite you into their unique holiday traditions. Here, children and families can experience cultural heritage, stories, and Christmas activities from across the globe – shared through play, creativity, and warm encounters. Christmas Around the World creates an inclusive space where we celebrate what brings us together during the holiday season: community, curiosity, joy, and magical moments.

PERU – DECEMBER 18th & 19th
Welcome to the Peru Corner in the Little Tent! Here we create a magical celebration with music, dance, crafts, and Peruvian Christmas traditions. Children can make Christmas cards decorated with typical Peruvian motifs and pompones, inspired by llama traditions. We sing Peruvian Christmas songs (villancicos) and share hot chocolate with panetón, a traditional Peruvian Christmas bread.

Children can also take photos with life-sized Peruvian cardboard figures and participate in musical activities with instruments such as berimbau, tambourine, triangle, guitar, caxixi, and Peruvian cajón. They will experience different dance rhythms like coco, puxada de rede, maculelê, carnaval arequipeño, and Afro-Peruvian dances. A drawing activity allows black-and-white images to be transformed into color.

A lively, energetic, and inclusive experience for the whole family, celebrating music, culture, and joy.
