Julestemning is 35 years old!

Some traditions should never be changed – and Julestemning is one of them. For 35 years, this beloved family show has given young and old the good Christmas feeling. Who would have thought, back then, that some guys were sitting at Byneset and thought: “What if we put on a Christmas show? About a pair of siblings who look forward to Christmas, love the traditions – and meet three elves who can’t agree on who the real one is?”

Little has changed since then. Julestemning is still a warm, musical and toddler-friendly pre-Christmas gem – and 6,000 audiences still come to Olavshallen every December to get into the Christmas spirit. And many come again and again: Some have seen the show three times, some seven, some fifteen. Parents who brought their own children are now bringing their grandchildren. Young adults who grew up with the show still return – because they have never grown out of it. For many, Christmas spirit has become a permanent part of Christmas preparations – as natural as the Christmas tree and the Christmas tree.

The performance touches the heart and speaks to the Norwegian folk soul. Because of course Santa Claus exists! Maybe he lives at the North Pole. Maybe in the forest. Or maybe in the barn. You just have to open up to the child within you – and believe.

In this year's performance, we meet the siblings Tor and Helle again. They cut down the Christmas tree, make decorations and put out porridge – because they are so excited for Christmas! And as always: When the elves appear, magic, complications and laughter follow.
