Saturday 30 December: Akershus Fortress
Akershus Fortress is a medieval castle and has protected the city since the beginning of the 14th century. We will walk outside along the ramparts and hear the dramatically history of the fortress. It has been in use as royal palace, prison and depot. Now it is one of Oslo’s most picturesque venues, and in use for official events hosted by the Norwegian authorities and the Norwegian Royal Family. The walking tour also includes Kvadraturen, the old part of Oslo, which was founded in 1624 by King Christian IV.
Meeting point: Ø – Oslo Visitor Centre at the Oslo Central Station (Jernbanetorget 1) at 14.00 (2pm)
