The German barytone Matthias Goerne and the Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes plays two concerts in Troldsalen in February. Welcome to unfororgettable evenings with two of our time's mosts famous musicians, with music by Robert Schumann, Edvard Grieg's musical idol.
Matthias Goerne is one of the most internationally sought-after vocalists and a frequent guest at renowned festivals and concert halls. He has appeared on the world’s principal opera stages, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Teatro Real in Madrid, Paris National Opera, and the Vienna State Opera. Goerne’s artistry has been documented on numerous recordings, many of which have received prestigious awards, including four Grammy nominations, an ICMA award, and recently the Diapason d’or arte. Leif Ove Andsnes is regarded as one of the greatest pianists in the world. The New York Times has called Andsnes "a pianist of magisterial elegance, power, and insight", and the Wall Street Journal named him "one of the most gifted musicians of his generation."
Andsnes' collaboration with Goerne started many years ago, and together they have received standing ovations from both audiences as well as critics for their concerts on venues such as Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Carnegie Hall and Wigmore Hall. This is their first appearance at Troldhaugen and a sensational opportunity to experience two of our time's greatest artists in the intimate setting of Troldsalen.
