Welcome to the world premiere of "In Arduis" , written by composer Wolfgang Plagge.
Wolfgang Plagge is well known from his many years as a composer, pianist and music educator in Norway. For 2021, Plagge has been KODE’s first ever "Composer in Residence". Throughout the year he has been composing a new work titled In Arduis, Latin meaning: "In difficult times".
Wolfgang Plagge got his MA from the Musikhochschule in Hamburg, and has emerged as one of the most unique and productive Norwegian composers of his generation. He has an extensive international career, and been awarded several prizes for his work both as a composer and performer. Plagge has composed more than 180 works in all genres, including numerous comissions from artists and institutions worldwide. He has published more than 20 album recordings with his own works, and has participated as performer on more than 15 albums. In 2006 Plagge received a knighthood in Budapest, Hungary for his work on Hungarian music. Plagge is member of the Norwegian Composers' Association NKF.
The new piece will be performed by pianist, and director at the Composer Homes, Christian Grøvlen. Grøvlen made his debut with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra in 2019 and with the The Norwegian National Opera Orchestra in 2020. Grøvlen has been awarded the Robert Levin Prize, the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize and "Statens Kunstnerstipend" in Norway. From 2020, he is also the director of KODEs Composer Homes.
