Concert with St. Luke's United Methodist Church Chancel Choir

Overview

St. Luke's United Methodist Church Chancel Choir from Indianapolis, Indiana USA will be presenting a free concert of sacred music on Wednesday evening, May 30th, 2018 at 19:00 in the historic St. John's  Church in Bergen.

The St. Luke's United Methodist Church Chancel Choir is the principal choral ensemble of one of the largest United Methodist Churches in the United States, serving in services of worship and for several concerts throughout each year.   The touring choir will feature 60 singers.

As a part of the ministry of music, the Chancel Choir regularly supports charitable causes and efforts, including raising funds for Habitat for Humanity, Interfaith Hunger Initiative, the UM Global HIV/AIDS Fund, Nothing But Nets, Outreach Inc., and well as supporting local food pantries, community centers, care facilities and ministries.

St. Luke’s Director of Music Ministry, Mark Squire, began serving in music ministry at age 12 as church organist .  He majored in Worship and Music at St. Olaf College (Northfield, MN) where he sang and toured as soloist and section leader of the renown St. Olaf Choir.

The concert will include sacred selections of  Joseph Haydn to modern Americaan composers such as Mack Wilberg and Norwegian composer Kim Andre Arnesen.
