Cultural Heritage Festival in Inner Vestland
The European Heritage Days celebration in our region with events stretching from the sea to the mountains, mirroring history and life in Western Norway.
This is a local and regional celebration offering insight into arts and crafts, everyday life, farming, fishing, architecture and industrialisation. Events are held in Norwegian, but we're flexible and happy to have you join our festival. Reach out to us if you find something in the linked catalogue that is to your liking. Welcome!
Recommended events:
30.08., 01.09., 02.-07.09. - Micro-guiding in a salmon trap, a building style from the 1800s forward that is no longer allowed to be used. Particular to this region, it created the original "salmon farmer" - farmers who spent 3 months each summer looking at the fjord, waiting to activate their trap. Mindfulness on a master level.
31.08. & 02.09. - Guiding at Dale of Norway. Quality wool sweaters that transcend fashion - designed and made in a small village with a city grid. Get to know the local history and the village of Dale.
05.09. - Baking day at one of Norway's oldest community houses. Meet up as you are and get a true taste of tradition.
08.09. - Sailing trip with "Brørvikskuto", the local farmers' 3rd leg to stand on in the 1800s: Sailing firewood to the city. Copy of a very special type of boat that can be dragged over a frozen fjord.
