The Norwegian tubaist and composer Daniel Herskedal got his international breakthrough with the album Slow Eastbound Train in 2015. He has since done a number of tours with his own ensemble in Europe and Asia, and the album The Roc was released in 2017. Both albums have received rave reviews and led to several commissioned works, including one for BBC Concert Orchestra during the 2016 London Jazzfestival. At Oslo Jazz Festival, you'll get to experience the world premiere of another commissioned piece, Old Salt Legends, performed by Daniel Herskedal Trio and the Royal Norwegian Navy Band.
With strong impulses from different music traditions and Herskedal's cinematic and melodic style, this is bound to be a memorable evening in the University aula.
