8–10 March, Dansens Hus: A tale about binary and non-binary destinies
Based on 71 different encounters with transgender people, dancer Daniel Mariblanca has compiled a programme that consists of dance, photography and film about fluid gender.
Through the different mediums, he tells stories about binary and non-binary destinies, about transformations in humans of different ages from different parts of the world.
As a transgender person, Mariblanca experiences his own gender identity as fluid, not as either/or. He describes coming out as at once vulnerable and liberating – as stopping to lie to oneself. He has since felt the urge to open up to people around him and convey experiences of otherness, courage and honesty through dance. His curiosity regarding how other people live out their choices has resulted in a large-scale project with a multitude of perspectives and modes of expressions regarding what it means to be transgender.
