The female body changes in the natural cycle every month, and through major transitions such as becoming a mother. 5 female dancers explore how these transitions can be themed at the pace of Halling. Is it possible to express some of the most feminine that exists through a dance that has always been developed on men's premises?

Through the creative process around menstruation, ovulation and pregnancy, we have looked for new dance via torn abdominal muscles and hat kicks.. We want to show a raw and honest picture of what it is like to be a female halling dancer. And maybe there is a new type of traditional dance that comes out on the other side.

Choreographer: Silje Onstad Hålien
Composer: Selma French Bolstad
Directed by: Susanne Marko
Costume design: Signe Vasshus
Lighting design: Daniel Kolstad Gimle
Co-creative dancers: Anita Vika Langødegård, Brigitte Blomlie, Margit Myhr, Solveig Hårdnes

Liv er ein is made in co-production with Riksscenen and Sprang with support from the Cultural Council, NOPA, Valdresmuséa, Innlandet and Folkemusikkveka.
