Canadian soul that combines political consciousness with warm grooves:

Dominique Fils-Aimé at Victoria!

Dominique Fils-Aimé raises cultural and political awareness about being a black woman with Haitian immigrant parents, born and raised in a French-speaking city on an English-speaking continent. History is more than facts and years, it is also the thoughts and feelings of those who live in it, for example expressed through music. Fils-Aimé draws inspiration from the role models Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, but also from Haitian music tradition and her own contemporaries.

Dominique Fils-Aimé - vocals, Étienne Miousse - guitar, David Osei-Afrifa - keyboards, Danny Trudeau - bass, Salin Cheewapansri - drums
