Art camp, workshop and exhibition with kunstpilotene in Nygårdsparken

Create animal and plant forms for the planet EarthMars

Since February 2021, the Mars rover Perseverance - a robotic vehicle docked on Mars - has been tasked with investigating for signs of life. It explores geology and climate, collects rock samples and tests technology to find out if humans can live on Mars in the future. To be able to see below the surface, the rover is equipped with the Norwegian-made georadar Rimfax (named after Rimfakse – the horse which, according to Norse mythology, could bring forth the night).

The artificial planet EarthMars

Inspired by this mission, in the month of March, kunstpilotene place an art installation (Tellus - Mars) in Nygårdsparken where the ground is supplied with intravenous fluid with mineral compositions similar to those found on Mars.

Imagined life on the two planets is merged, and as a space geologist you are invited to use your imagination and create animal and plant forms for the unknown planet EarthMars.

Earth is known as the blue planet, Mars as the red. EarthMars - what is it like?

Workshop and art camp: Sat 18.03, Sun 19.03, Sat 25.03, Sun 26.03, drop in at 12-3pm.

Exhibition: Fri 17.03 – Wed 29.03.
