Edith Carlmar was Norway's first female film director. During Kosmorama, the Edith Carlmar Prize is awarded to a professional female filmmaker in Norway who has shown integrity, a fearless ability to innovate and a willingness to break boundaries. The prize has existed since 2010, and honors Carlmar as an innovative film director. This year's winner is cinematographer Cecilie Semec. She receives a scholarship of 50,000 kroner as well as a reprint of an original Edith Carlmar film poster. It will be awarded during the festival's Midtfest on Wednesday 19.03.
The prize is a collaboration with Sparebank 1 SMN.
Kosmorama celebrates the prize by inviting to a special symposium in her name on Thursday 20.03 at 14.00-16.30 at Cinemateket in Trondheim. There will be a focus on this year's prize winner through a conversation in addition to a panel discussing the role of women in Norwegian film today. We have invited past winners and experts in the field to the panel.
