Egil Olsen is described as the "finest and most subtle we have" (VG) and as "one of the country's very best songwriters" (Dagens Næringsliv). He has garnered many accolades with his five critically acclaimed albums, countless concerts and creative leaps, such as an autobiographical comic strip in the newspaper, hip hop cover column on p3, radio blog on p13, award-winning music videos and animated concert in a computer game. He has even got his own tribute album, where artists such as Thom Hell, Sondre Lerche, Stig Ulv and Side Brok interpret his songs.
Most recently, he has marked his first ten years as an artist with the double live album ‘egil olsen live’ and the double rarity collection ‘egil olsen rare’. 2020 was the year he was to release a lot of new music, but 2020 was the year he drowned in fear, despair and streaming. He was one of the very first to appear with online concerts when the country closed.
This year he released a number of singles that will culminate in a new album for the late autumn. The first single 'mouths to feed' got a solid 5 'in VG which described it as "the nicest and strangest song about living in difficult times". Kulturstripa with Mona B Riise on P2 says it is "The most beautiful and beautiful we have heard in a very very long time". The brand new single, ‘don’t be a tool’, also received a lot of positive reviews for both the music and the animated music video.
Egil Olsen is an out-of-the-ordinary live artist. With its whimsical stories and "beyond beautiful songs" (Dagbladet), you get an entertaining, beautiful and thought-provoking mix of humor, seriousness and musicality. "Egil Olsen is and will be a great entertainer" writes Erik Valebrokk.
