Did you know that children in Spain do not receive gifts from Santa Claus, but both gifts and sweets from the Holy Three Kings? This does not even happen on Christmas Eve, but after the Christmas holidays!
"Día de los reyes" or "Bajada de reyes" is an important celebration in the Spanish-speaking part of the world that tells of the three kings who traditionally came to praise Jesus the child as the savior of the world. Some say that the kings came from Asia, Europe and Africa and with that represented a meeting between three continents.
In the children's concert "Christmas celebration with the three holy kings", the Ensemble Wirakocha and Majorstuen's Children and Youth Choir sing and tell many exciting and perhaps completely new discoveries about "Navidad" (Christmas, in Spanish) and how it was celebrated in America at that time the continent was just discovered and was called the "New World".
At that time, a long time ago, people from the three great continents met for the first time (Europeans, Native Americans and Africans) and gradually they formed a diverse culture that we today call "Latin American". The music in our concert is one of the first expressions of world music and through it both young and old will get experiences of a whole new world of Christmas
