About Erlend Ropstad:
Erlend reflects our present with a presence that binds him and the audience together in a very special way. In 30 years, his songs about love and politics may well turn out to be little history books about how we lived now. The songwriting is at a sky-high level and has led to nominations and acclaimed reviews for all releases. Musically, Erlend Ropstad is now heavier and more rock than when he started, as Dagsavisen wrote in 2019: "Erlend Ropstad makes it sound like rock was invented in Sørlandet". His music can be described as heartbreaking realism, dark, but also with hopeful stories. Erlend Ropstad has laid stone upon stone in his 15-year music career. Described as a rock and colossal artist in Norwegian rock, Ropstad has slowly but surely left support jobs here at home and in Europe, via small clubs, and hundreds of concerts later he played on Øyafestivalen's main stage and filled Rockefeller. From Øya he received reviews such as "Nobody over, nobody by the side" (9/10 Musikknyheter.no) and "Emotionally it was to be part of another chapter of Erlend Ropstad's career path, towards really mastering the great rock. Stadium ready now "(Class struggles).
2019 was crowned with the Prøysen Prize and the album Brenn Siste Brevet was named the best album of the year in the prestigious list from 50 music journalists that Dagsavisen makes. Several of his songs have appeared on films and in TV commercials in Norway and abroad. As he switched to singing in Norwegian, he experienced a breakthrough and received a reception for his Norwegian albums which are possibly second to none in the country. All albums received exclusively panegyric dice rolls and reviews, and all were nominated for Spellemann. In 2020, his songs became the performance "Man, Dear Man" at the National Theater in 2020, together with Nils-Øyvind Haagensen's poems. Erlend Ropstad himself was in the play and premiered in February 2020 with 10 critically acclaimed performances before Norway closed down.
One can not help but recognize him as one of the country's most important and most recognized artists, and look forward to everything that comes.
