Coby Omvlee is a dot artist, actress, director and scenographer. She uses oil paint, acrylics, and various media on paper, wood and readymades. She works with sculptural elements and figurines, and her work is centered around re-use and redesign. The dot art is at the same time finished work and a precise ongoing process, and one can oftentimes find Omvlee at work in the exhibition! The patterns, dots and lines are allowed to spread across canvas and paper, as well as on objects and decorations, bringing these ordinary things into the world of art. The esthetics burst out from something wonderfully simple, which spreads throughout the world like a living organism where ever Omvlee is. She shows us how a simple element like one dot can become art through craft and time.
