FAY WILDHAGEN with TRONDHEIM SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Olavsfest 2025 features a brand new and special project: Fay Wildhagen, one of Norway's most exciting and distinctive artists, in a unique collaboration with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra!
Fay Wildhagen works best when she is challenged. Then she thinks "I can do this!"
The challenge doesn't get much bigger than presenting her music in a new and powerful guise together with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra & Opera (TSO), outdoors in Borggården, on the closing day of Olavsfest 2025.
You've never heard Fay Wildhagen like this before.
As a child, Fay could sit for hours with her guitar, completely immersed in her own world and the sound spaces that emerged. She still does, she is constantly looking for the magic that different instruments and keys can create. An approach that provides a particularly good starting point and unimagined opportunities for this unique project.
With this concert, Fay Wildhagen is working closely with Kristoffer Lo, a collaboration that has already manifested itself, among other things, through the award-winning music for the feature film "Aksel" from 2021. The two have worked together in several contexts and have developed both a fruitful creative collaboration and a close personal friendship.
Kristoffer Lo says that for him it is about presenting Fay's music as it has always been intended to sound.
- When we met for the first time, Mozart's "Requiem" was one of the first things played, followed by various film scores, he says.
- Although Fay's music can at times be both minimalist and adapted to a traditional band setup, there is great potential for expanding the soundscape into something powerful and orchestral, explains Kristoffer Lo.
The concert will consist of Fay Wildhagen's previous songs in new orchestral arrangements, as well as completely new music that will tie the songs together, bridge the gap between TSO's and Fay's musical expressions and create a holistic concert experience.
The orchestra will be presented at its largest and most monumental, but also at its most intimate. Fay Wildhagen's music is already very dynamic, and the concert will seek to deepen and explore this dimension - while giving the audience a new perspective on her music.
- I want to find sounds that touch the heartstrings. That do something with the emotional, something that stirs, says Fay Wildhagen.
FAY WILDHAGEN is one of Norway's leading artists and producers. She has released three albums and composed the music for two feature films, and has won the Spellemann Prize, the Music Publisher's Prize, the Edvard Prize and the Anne Grete Preus Prize.
We are looking forward to seeing you! ❤️
