Flekker

​Mini-performance from dancing spots.

Four colourful Flekker (meaning 'spots' in Norwegian) make a surprise visit to the centre of Bergen, and dance, play, joke with and greet the children they meet along the way. Thus, they transform everyday cobblestones and urban areas into a world filled with wonder and create a magical feeling that anything can happen.

The performance was made by dance artist and choreographer Yaniv Cohen. One of Cohen's goals was to produce a performance that all children could relate to, regardless of background or identity. The performers are dressed in full-coverage suits that hide personal features. In this way, the colours, shapes and movements are at the centre of attention, and all children are invited to let their creativity lead them further into their own imagination.

Flekker gives young people an encounter with the art of dance in an accessible and informal setting, and has had great success with its unexpected visits to kindergartens, festivals and public spaces.
