Florence Adooni

The queen of frafra gospel, Florence Adooni, fuses the original frafra gospel with highlife music!

Adooni is of the frafra people who hail from north-eastern Ghana. The young and up-and-coming singer was born and raised in Kumasi, home of the Ashanti people, a city that is the epicentre of highlife music! Adooni utilises the best highlife musicians who hail from Kumasi.

The song "Naba Aferda" is a tribute to the chief of Zuarungu, which is Adooni's birthplace, where Christy Azuma, the very first international frafra star, also comes from! Christy is a great inspiration to Adooni, who is proud to come from a village with a talented population.

Frafra gospel is sung by people sitting in the pews surrounded by goats and sheep and Adooni mixes in gospel hymns that are sung during the Sunday service. The song "Yinne", meaning the creator, is one of the songs sung at the services. The divine rhythm tends to create a collective ecstasy in the congregation!
