Sørnorsk Ungdomsstorband (SNUS) consists of 18 talented musicians aged 16 - 22 years. The band is a unique offer for music youth in Agder and Telemark and is the Sørnorsk jazz center its spearhead and pride when it comes to youth initiatives. Sørnorsk Ungdomsstorband is a regional ensemble run by Sørnorsk Jazzsenter. The band is an offer for young music performers in Telemark and the Agder counties where they are given the opportunity to develop their skills as performers and ensemble musicians in the big band format. Furthermore, the band collaborates with local communities to inspire and motivate young people to focus on jazz. The target group is youth from music schools, corps, rock workshops and other organized or unorganized music activities. The band gathers for weekend gatherings 4 to 5 times a year. Young music students / students who want to get "training" and schooling in big band and improvisation games seek admission in the band. The band presents a wide range from the big band literature, ranging from "easy swing jazz" to modern funk. The concert in Buen Kulturhus is arranged in collaboration with Buen Kulturhus and Mandal Jazz Club and is free to the public.
