​Music scented with sun-baked timber walls and bubbling with ponds and marshes.

​When Gabriels Novgorod breaks into polyphonic song, it's like walking straight into a wedding, funeral or festive living room in some low block of flats from the post-war years.

The group dives into the rich treasure chest of popular music from Finland, Sweden, Russia and other countries around the Baltic Sea. The result is a passionate show featuring the accordion, fiddle, double bass, guitar and vocals.

With folk musician Gabriel Fliflet at the helm, they offer everything from hard-swinging Finnish humppa and Yiddish tango to northern Swedish swing and longing waltzes - in countless languages.

Gabriels Novgorod was formed in 2003, and together the four musicians master a number of musical languages with playful expertise and enormous joy.

Fliflet holds great knowledge of popular music from his native Finland and grew up to the sound of Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian singing. David Chelsom Vogt and Jørgen Sandvik, best known from the band Real Ones, have played together since they were little, and Kristoffer Chelsom Vogt plays in various constellations with them all.
