GLENN HUGHES CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF DEEP PURPLE'S "BURN"

Glenn Hughes, former bassist and singer in Deep Purple, nicknamed the 'Voice of Rock', and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is now starting his tour 'Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live - Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the album BURN' and will be coming to Trondheim and Byscenen on Monday, November 11. It has been 14 years since he last visited Trondheim at the Trondheim Rock Festival in 2010, so take the chance now to experience this celebration!

Glenn will play Deep Purple's entire legendary album "BURN", as well as some other songs from Deep Purple MKIII and MKIV - that is, from the albums "Stormbringer" and "Come Taste The Band".

Glenn's band consists of Søren Andersen (guitar), Ash Sheehan (drums) and Bob Fridzema (keyboards).

'It was 50 years ago, in the summer of 1973, that Deep Purple's "BURN" album was written at Clearwell Castle in Gloucestershire," Glenn recalls. "The songs were recorded in October in Montreux, Switzerland."

Hughes continues: "We became a tight-knit group in a centuries-old castle in the English countryside. It felt like Purple was a whole new band, with David (Coverdale) and me as new members, and we were really eager to start working on new songs. The atmosphere was electric, in such a wonderful natural setting."

"All the songs on BURN were written in the crypt or dungeons, which were located under the main hall of the castle. We worked on a new song every day, and we were really into it. underneath the great hall. First we worked on the music and the ideas we had, and David and I came up with the vocal melodies that we later wrote the lyrics to. I remember it like it was yesterday.”

“As you can imagine, Ritchie Blackmore was keen on pranks and jokes. Jon had warned me, and he hid a speaker in my room one night, after which I woke up in the night with eerie, ghostly voices by my bed.”

“The title track was the last song written. We came back from the pub, went down to the crypt, and magic happened.”

Hughes sums up: “It’s time to celebrate BURN’s 50th anniversary, and I’m really looking forward to seeing you all again.”
