Haydn's great vocal masterpiece, The Creation, gives us the creation of the world in a dramatic and powerful musical setting, all conveyed expertly by the "dancing" conductor and Haydn specialist, de Vriend, and with our own mighty TSO choir as a faithful companion.

When the choir first creeps in, and then when the choir and orchestra break out into "Licht!", you feel that you are facing one of the most magical moments in music history; Haydn repeats the very moment of creation – "and there was light"!

In The Creation, Haydn takes us from darkness, emptiness and chaos to light, rolling landscapes and paradise in fantastic tone paintings and superbly conveyed by the archangels Raphael, Uriel and Gabriel. The oratorio is a musical treat of roaring lions, chirping birds, flowing water and Adam and Eve's happy days in Paradise.
