Fasten your seatbelt and let Holst's iconic depictions of our planetary neighbors catapult you into space!

At tonight's concert, the orchestra really gets to shine; this becomes powerful from the first note when we open with Thomas Adès' orchestral suite "Inferno" from the ballet "Dante". Based on Franz Liszt's "Dante Symphony", this has become a fantastic piece of music that masterfully depicts the journey through the circles of hell.

From the underworld, we take a trip out into the sky where Holst, with the broadest brush, colorfully paints our own solar system. "The Planets" opens with the intense aggressiveness of the war god Mars, takes us through Jupiter's festive celebration of the king of the gods, until we end in the mysterious and otherworldly atmosphere of Neptune. A cosmic journey where Holst portrays each planet's unique personality from the world of astrology and Roman mythology.
