Jónína Guðbjörg Guðbjartsdóttir - True Colours

Overview

With the exhibition TRUE COLORS: seeing the inaccessible, photographer Jónína Guðbjörg Guðbjartsdóttir expresses a fascination for what we cannot sense, but which nevertheless exists.

In the exhibition, we are presented with enigmatic and beautiful nature photographs. The exhibition includes music by composer Arndís Rán Snæþórsdóttir based on sound recordings made by the photographer himself on location in Iceland.

I will always remember the day I came home to visit after moving from Ísafjörður to Reykjavík. I was 20 years old. Then I had not been home for half a year. And everything looked different for a while. The mountains were bigger and more powerful. The wind a little more violent. The scent is a little different. But then it went back to as before. It made me think of everything that exists but that we can not see. - Jónína Guðbjörg Guðbjartsdóttir

All photos were taken with an infrared camera. Light is a form of electromagnetic radiation. Infrared light is at about 700 nm to 1200 nm. The light most people can see is at 380-750 nm. The photographs in TRUE COLORS thus show a world inaccessible to us with the naked eye.

The project is supported by the Norwegian Film School

Jónína Guðbjörg Guðbjartsdóttir is an Icelandic photographer and filmmaker living in Oslo. She is a trained film photographer from the Icelandic Film School and the Norwegian Film School.
