Johannes Weisser - Schumann & Grieg

Johannes Weisser sings Schumann & Grieg, with guest Søren Rastogi.

The university aula will be visited by Johannes Weisser - the baritone who has taken Europe by storm both as an opera and concert singer. His impressive track record includes performances with the Vienna Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic, all Norwegian orchestras and a whole host of other leading ensembles.

You will hear Weisser in perhaps Robert Schumann's most important - and one of the most influential - song cycles in music history: Dichterliebe. The timing of the concert is by no means a coincidence, as the beautiful month of May is the very opening phrase of Schumann's masterpiece.

Weisser is joined by Danish pianist and professor Søren Rastogi, with whom Weisser has collaborated for many years, including on his own Grieg release, which can be heard here.

Robert Schumann (1810-1856): Liederkreis, op. 24
Edvard Grieg (1843-1907): Selected songs
Robert Schumann: Dichterliebe, op. 48
