Caught in the Middle is a tale about identity and connections between indigenous people in Scandinavia and Australia. Cultural disparities and encounters between cultures is a main theme, taking as its starting point two groups of people, from different sides of the globe, who both have experiences colonialization and suppression. The performance combines dance, theatre and music.
The performance is inspired by the life experiences of the Aboriginal actor Heath Bergersen and Sami dancers Elle Sofe Henriksen as well as the Sami traditional singer Sara Marielle Gaup.
KAGE is an Australian dance company that explores and expands on the format of dance through genre-transcending collaborations across disciplines. Their performances are characterised by a high artistic quality, beautiful tableaus and richness in ideas.
