Kanaan + Ævestaden
Friday 29 November!
Doors open 20:00 - Concert starts at 21:00.
18 years age limit!
The two Oslo-based bands Kanaan and Ævestaden plan to carry out a very special tour this autumn. The tour shows the collaborative project between the two bands and the music they have been working on together recently. Kanaan, a heavy, psychedelic and jazz-inspired trio and Ævestaden, a band strongly inspired by the Norwegian and Swedish folk music tradition, electronic production and hypnotic choral music will perform music from their upcoming album "Langt, Langt Vekk" on this tour which will be released on Jansen Records on October 11.
The album is a multi-faceted crossover album that combines Ævestaden's melancholic lyres, traditionally-inspired upbeat melodies, partly dark songwriting and a collective musical spirit, with the psychedelic adventurous, fuzz-heavy and improvisation-based approach of Kanaan. Own versions of old medieval ballads, an old Swedish cowhorn melody, a traditional beat from Setesdal, religious hymns, in addition to original music were recorded in December 2022 at Flerbruket, Hemnes, and will finally be released as a full-length. On the album, all the different sources of inspiration and references merge in a holistic and suggestive way, and at the concerts the sextet will embroider further and expand on this musical vision.
