Karl Bjorå + Sakte Fallende // Bergen Kjøtt
Doors 20:00
Concert start 21:00
Over the past 10–12 years, Karl Bjorå has made his mark in bands such as Emmeluth’s Amoeba, Yes Deer, Megalodon Collective, and others, through releases with these groups and concerts around the world. In his own band, only Bjorå’s compositions are performed, focusing on the pursuit of a rich and unique sound – both as an ensemble and individually.
The band’s distinct character lies in its instrumentation and the musicians’ strong individual expressions, finely balancing composed elements and free improvisation without competing for space. As Arild R. Andersen wrote about the album in Aftenposten: “Bjorå deconstructs the image of the guitarist as a self-indulgent centerpiece and acrobat. He challenges the listener’s expectations and creates wholeness, without ever losing focus.”
The band consists of:
Karl Bjorå – guitar & composition
Selma French Bolstad – fiddles & vocals
Tuva Syvertsen – fiddles & vocals
Håvard Aufles – synth
Bárður Reinert Poulsen – double bass
Andreas Winther – drums
Sakte Fallende
Sakte, fallende plays unpolished guitar music in all its glory, with spontaneous jumps between noise, no wave, synthpop, post-rock, and americana. The music touches nerves you didn’t quite know you had and makes you want to hear more. They play freely with references to Nels Cline, Arthur Russell, Deerhoof, Japan, Himmelfarten, and Derek Bailey – and almost make it all make sense.
Over the past year, they’ve played around Norway, always with new songs and never predictable, but generally receiving positive feedback. Head to Kjøtt and hear one of Bergen’s most exciting bands!
Sune Dommersnes, Martin Borge – guitars
Erlend Markhus – double bass
Herman Kirkenær Krogh – drums
