Kim Patricia Augestad presents selected paintings made between 2019-2021, at Gallery M15 in Oslo.
The paintings are primarily in acrylic on paper and canvas varying in size.
Kim Patricia Augestad is a psychiatrist and painter living in Oslo, Norway. After concluding her medical practice she now works as an artist. She has five children.
Her vision is to create art that mobilises change towards a type of liberation that connects us more deeply to our authentic selves.
In her latest work, she is particularly interested in exploring the relationship between the singular and the universal.
Her work conveys the self as fragmented but also as existing wholly in relation to others - humans, plants, animals as well as non-sentient objects and events. The ongoing becoming of self a process of a best guess towards a meaningful space of existing with our consciousness.
An underlying thread in all her work is mind and matter; exploring the mind as an integrated part of matter. She believes in the existence of matter as a relational concept, and the mind as relationally bound up with matter.
Her work deals with themes of family relationships, separation, loss, growth and stagnation, and the process of overcoming that which inhibits our freedom.
