If we are to believe leading outlets such as The Wire, Jazzwise, France Musique, and major Norwegian publications like Dagens Næringsliv and Morgenbladet, Kjetil Mulelid Trio is considered “the very finest in modern jazz,” “one of Europe’s leading piano trios,” and a group that “shapes the elite of modern piano trios.”

In connection with their latest album release in February 2025, All About Jazz described their sound as “simply beautiful and beautifully simple,” while Jazz Journal called the trio “one of the finest post-Bley/Jarrett piano trios at work today.” Norway’s Dagsavisen wrote that the music was “melodic, melancholic, and enormously beautiful,” while the Dutch Written in Music simply stated that the trio was “one hell of a piano trio.”
