Lang Lang regrets to announce that he is forced to cancel performances through the end of June due to an inflammation in his left arm. This includes the Festival concert on Thursday 01 June.

On his doctor's recommendation, Lang Lang will take this time to rest and allow his arm to heal in order to make a full recovery. The Festival is working with Lang Lang to find an alternate concert date another year, and is also working to produce another event in Grieghallen on the night in question.

Everyone with tickets to the Lang Lang concert will receive information on how their tickets will be reimbursed on Tuesday 18 April, after the Easter holiday. This information will also be published at www.fib.no and Facebook.

Lang Lang has performed for presidents on three continents and four billion viewers at the Olympic Opening Ceremony in Beijing. Experience the superstar pianist at the 2017 Bergen International Festival. Lang Lang was born in 1982, and has long been considered one of today's greatest stars of classical music. He is well-known for his open-hearted, emotive playing, and has played to sold out concerts across the globe. His list of merits is as long as it is varied: Lang Lang has performed at the 2014 World Cup concert in Rio, at the 56th and 57th Grammy Awards with Metallica and Pharell Williams and the Last Night of the Proms at London's Royal Albert Hall. He has played with conductor Sir Simon Rattle and on Sesame Street, been included in the "TIME 100", the magazine's annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World, and Steinway Pianos has named a piano model after him. Lang Lang is also passionate about bringing music into the lives of children around the world, whether it is through his work with new media or through his work with various organisations, including his own. His own first meeting with the world of classical music was a Tom & Jerry cartoon, which introduced him to the music of Liszt. At the Bergen International Festival, one of the works Lang Lang will be performing is Liszt's Piano Sonata in B minor, often considered to be one of the most difficult works ever written for piano.
