Leknes met M.S. Playhead on the road to Mexico, and through their encounters with mezcal, mescaline, flirty donkeys, and shapeshifting nahuales, the idea for the album M.S. Playhead Vol. I was born. The music can be described as Alternative Rock Noir, or maybe Crime Jazz — or simply: music.

From the icy landscapes of Norway to the sun-drenched mesas of Mexico, Leknes & The Layoffs create music filled with howling saxophones, twisted organs, infernal drums, crooked guitars, and a weathered voice full of soul.

Their debut album, M.S. Playhead Vol. I, drops on November 6, and this will be your only chance to experience it live in connection with the release!

With one foot in improvisation and the other in the grave (!?), Unmothered from Trondheim delivers crushing riffs and spontaneous lyrics that push the boundaries of both genre and geography (yes, even the Swedish border). Each musician — and Swede — brings a unique voice to a raw, uncompromising sound. Expect traces of prog, metal, art rock, noise, and straight-up playful madness.

Their debut EP Everything is Falling Apart is set for release this November on Trondheim’s beloved All Good Clean label.
