Dance musical about dreams, longings and love.
The "marathon dance" is the story of a dance contest during the depression of the thirties. Here, the couple who stays upright can win the most money or maybe be discovered by a Hollywood talentist. The dream of wealth and fame drives the participants further and further to the edge of what is human worthy. It is a story about the price of humanity and freedom in a cynical world in economic decline. In the "Marathon dance" we see the beginning of what has evolved into today's reality TV. Real people's dreams and hopes are broken or fulfilled while we are watching.
The action takes place in a complete stage setting with dance floor, live music from own band, mirror ball and palm garden bar. The audience sits around the dance floor experiencing what is happening both in front of and behind the stage of the dance competition. Also the dancers' carefully measured breaks - which is the only time they have for private things - play in front of the audience.
We invite you to a time trip to the jazz childhood. Ole Jørn Myklebust has created a new arrangement for a number of jazzstandard songs performed by a femmann's big band in the performance. Ensemble with Jenny Langlo - who comes directly from Cosette in Les Miserables at the Folketeatret in Oslo, Ina Breivik - known to many as "Margot", Sara Fellman and actors from Teatret Vårt will dance together with 10 dance couples from Ålesund and Molde.
It will be premiere at Høstscena in 2018, where the Worker will be a vibrant turning point for the festival in the center of Ålesund. Then the whole musical moves to play periods in Kristiansund and Molde.
