Melhus Pensioners' Choir invites you to a cabaret with Vidar Sandbeck's rich treasure trove of songs

Melhus Pensioners' Choir celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024. A happy group consisting of between 40 and 50 "retired" singers from Trondheim, Skaun, Orkdal, Midtre Gauldal and most of them from Melhus.

The choir participated in the Norwegian National Choir Championships in 2023, and won its class, and is a popular choir that is often asked to sing at other popular events

In connection with the 30th anniversary, the choir created and rehearsed a cabaret, based on some of the well-known and beloved lyricist, composer, troubadour and performing musician, Vidar Sandbeck's rich and extensive treasure trove of songs.

The cabaret was named "Kan du låna bort en femmer?", based on the title of one of Sandbeck's witty and quirky lyrics.

About 20 of Sandbeck's songs are arranged for choirs, so it was just a matter of starting.

But the treasure trove of songs is diverse, and many of Vidar Sandbeck's songs are well suited for solo performances, duets, group singing and readings, which there are many of in this cabaret. In addition, the cabaret is tied together with stories about Vidar Sandbeck's incredibly interesting and life, with good anecdotes by one of the choir members, former schoolboy and mayor Erling Bøhle.

The cabaret of Melhus Pensioners' Choir has a bit of all of this.
