Mellomlagslyd

Trondhjems art society has the pleasure of welcoming you to the opening of Mellomlagslyd /Interlayer sound, by Lithauanian graphic artist Neringa Zukauskaite.

Zukauskaite works mainly in classic techniques like wood- or linocut. She uses several plates in each print, and her pictures are often built up of several intricate, translucent, detail-rich layers in a lovely muted palette of natural colours.

She likes to look to the places she exhibits when planning an exhibition, and this time Zukauskaite has found inspiration in the layers of norwegian nature and its moody shadows to gain an empathic contact with this place. In her grey, brown and blue images we can find the sound of nature, the monotonous sound of wood. Mellomlagslyd is about the silence of the moment, a silence which is not silent and which does not rest. Pauses filled with words. The artist tries to reach a picture of silence, a whisper of words instead of phrases.

Neringa Zukauskaite holds a degree of the arts from Vilnius academy of fine arts. She was a guest artis at Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder in Trondheim back in 2002, and at this time she was also exhibited in Trondhjems kunstforening. We welcome her back, and welcome you to hte openinc thursday May 30th.
