Powerful music meets grand nature when the Peer Gynt festival presents famous artists at the outdoor stage overlooking Rondane National park.

An artistic meeting

The Peer Gynt festival has been arranged every year since 1967 in the small town Vinstra in the Gudbrandsdalen valley. The thought behind the festival has always been to create a meeting between the local Per from Vinstra, and Henrik Ibsen's character "Peer". The mountain concert on the Kvamsfjellet mountain offers the definition of the festivals idea, with a unique meeting between famous artists.

Every year, the concert gathers around 2000 spectators, and is considered ahighlight in the festival programme.

A scenic framework

The outdoor concert venue on the Kvamsfjellet mountain was built for the first mountain concert in the festival in 1996. There are benches for 100 people, but most guests prefer to bring their own folding chair, a sit-mat or a blanket, and sit in the heater. In the heater you will get the best view to the home of the Mountain King, the steep mountains of Rondane National park.

With the Rondane mountains as the scenery, the venue offers a unique framework for culture in nature.

International guests

The mountain concert is a great way to experience Norwegian culture and nature, and is also recommended for an international audience. The artists usually present their program in Norwegian, but the experience of music and nature can be enjoyed no matter what language you speak.

You will be handed the program for the concert in the entrance of the venue.
