Masaki Suzuki is one of the most respected musicians of our time.
His lifelong dedication to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach is revealed in this concert via Felix Mendelssohn, another musician who held every note Bach wrote dear. Mendelssohn's celebration of the inclusivity and openness of the Lutheran Reformation gave birth to the Fifth Symphony, one of his most uplifting and exciting.
'His zestful love for these works shines from every bar' reads a recent review of Henning Kraggerud's new recording of Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5. Kraggerud joins Suzuki for this stately yet exotic concerto, before the full force of Brahms's urgent and impassioned Tragic Overture.
«The performances are light and energetic. Kraggerud's tone is eloquent and beautiful, marrying richness in the low notes with sweetness at the top», The Guardian on Kraggerud's recording of Mozart's Violin Concertos.
