Museum storage tour: Terrors from land and sea
Who needs ghosts to get a fright? Of all the terrifying creatures you might encounter around Halloween, few can match the spine-chilling specimens waiting for you in the University Museum’s Natural History collection.
Join us for an extraordinary tour into our museum storage, where we will introduce you to the eerie zombie-snails, death’s-head moths, blood-sucking vampire flies, spiders and coffin flies. Discover the dark magic behind how witches used herbs and other plants in their spells. And if you’ve ever wondered about the mysterious creatures lurking beneath the ocean’s surface, we have the answers – and perhaps you will even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the legendary kraken.
Guiding you through this thrilling evening are marine biologist Maria Buhaug Grankvist, entomologists Emily Hartop and Torbjørn Ekrem, and botanist Tommy Prestø.
This chilling event is best suited for those aged 12 and up.
The venue is unfortunately not suited for physically disabled guests.
The event begins outside the museum’s main entrance.
