Ever since the critically acclaimed "The Mechanical Fair" (2014), Ola Kvernberg and the TrondheimSolistene have collaborated regularly in the studio and on stage. The interaction is characterized by playfulness and creative genre mixing, and has resulted in concerts at, among others, the Trondheim Chamber Music Festival, at Moldejazz and at the Victoria National Stage.

Now they are ready for a New Year's tour, and you will hear a new work written by Kvernberg specifically for this tour with the TrondheimSolistene. There will also be new arrangements of Kvernberg's music, including works originally written for the Engegård Quartet - which prompted ballade.no's reviewer Ola Nordal to describe Kvernberg as "a unique figure in Norwegian music". The Trondheim Soloists will perform works by Grieg, and you will also hear award-winning film music from Ola Kvernberg's catalogue.

Ola Kvernberg
Ola Kvernberg, born and raised in Fræna outside Molde, is a Norwegian jazz violinist, multi-instrumentalist and composer. He is one of Norway's most renowned jazz violinists and has an expression that has moved between Django Reinhardt-inspired "string swing", folk music and modern jazz, often with elements of rock and film music. His work and collaborations as a performer and composer have won a number of Spellemann awards, both as a lead artist and as a performer on other productions.
