Premiere of Eric Skytterholm Egan's "Sombras", a work for guitar in ten movements, based on Alonso Mudarra's ten fantasias for vihuela, first published in 1546.

Ole Martin Huser-Olsen - guitar

In Sombras, fragments from Mudarra's work are used as a catalyst for a new form of expressiveness. The work unites the natural microtonality of the overtones and the ambiguity of the multiphones with the idiomaticity of the guitar. Egan uses techniques from improvisational music to uncover new and expressive sound worlds. This material is intertwined with the sounds of the Renaissance, in a work that explores a poetic silence that lies close to the subtle nature of the instrument. A window is opened to an elongated sonic world, which stands in contrast to what we are usually used to on the instrument.

Ole Martin Huser-Olsen has a master's degree in classical guitar from NMH. He has premiered more than 50 works, and in 2022 was awarded the Norwegian Composers' Association's Artist of the Year award. He has toured large parts of Norway and Europe as a freelancer and played with ensembles such as Aksiom, Ensemble Ernst, Oslo Sinfonietta, Trondheimsolistene, Oslo String Quartet and Vilde&Inga etc. He has, among other things, played concerts in places such as Edvard Grieg's home Troldhaugen in Bergen, the Norwegian Opera in Bjørvika, several times at the Ultima Festival in Oslo, Only Connect, the Borealis Festival in Bergen, the Klang Festival in Copenhagen, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and Unerhörte Musik in Berlin. Ole Martin has made recordings with Aksiom on LAWO (2016, 2019), MERE Records (2018, 2022), his first solo album, Lockdown Miniatures, came out in 2022 (Aurora). In the fall of 2025 he released two new solo albums: Musical Icons (LAWO Classics) and Gradus (CLR).
