The legendary bar in the older part of Havana, El Floridita, became one of the world's most attractive and mythical destinations in the 1940s, regularly frequented by the likes of Ernest Hemingway. The bar was well known for its talented musicians as well as for its festive dance floor. It is in this era that a number of significant dances and their music were born, namely cha-cha-cha, danzón, guaracha, bolero and mambo.
At this concert, pianist and artistic director Sverre Indris Joner teams up with an ensemble of Cuban musicians and string players from the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra to take you on a musical journey back to the pre-revolutionary Cuba. Get ready for an evening of music, dance, Cuban cuisine and much more.
