The Ola Kvernberg Steamdome gives the audience in Trondheim a unique concert experience. Trondheim has always been Steamdome's base, hometown and the place they feel most comfortable. Perhaps that is why so many memorable concerts have been served precisely in Trondheim. From the first time you could experience the compact version Steambox at Moskus, to the first time you could hear the giant version with TSO in Borggården, and all premiere performances in between. In the autumn of 2022, Ola Kvernberg and the gang invited to the rehearsal room in Trondheim to test out ideas and sketches on the faithful Trønder audience - material that can be heard again today on the latest album "Steamdome III: Beyond The End". When the band now descends into the basement of Lokal, it is to give Trondheim an intimate concert experience worthy of the nightclub and the dance floor.

With Steamdome, through three albums and euphoric concerts, Ola Kvernberg has seriously taken the step over from the polite jazz congregation onto club stages and dance floors. With the third and for the time being the last part of the Steamdome beast, all inhibitions are released in a project that has already proven to be even bigger, more powerful and tougher. "Steamdome III: Beyond The End" had its monumental premiere in front of over 3,000 people in the twilight hours of late summer 2023. In a medieval setting in Borggården in Trondheim, Ola Kvernberg Steamdome ended the Olavfest days together with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, and breathed life into the project's third chapter. In June 2024, "Steamdome III: Beyond The End" came out as an album, and in October the band embarks on a mini-tour along the coastal line from Trondheim in the north to Stavanger in the south. 

When "Steamdome I" saw the light of day – first as a commissioned work for Trondheim Jazzfest and Moldejazz in 2016 – Kvernberg described the project as a kind of mid-life crisis, the musician's version of buying a motorbike. Since then, it has taken on a greater and broader meaning, as his working band and main musical project. When the album came out in 2017, it landed in a surprising tenth place on the list of Norway's best-selling vinyl records in Norway, and one of the most sensational commercial breakthroughs for a Norwegian jazz musician was a fact. Where "Steamdome I" was quite punk, jammy and loose, "Steamdome II" from 2021 was tighter and more thoroughly composed. But everyone who fell for the first two parts will also recognize themselves in "Steamdome III" - even with a symphony orchestra, the rhythm is central. The same framework lies at the bottom, no matter how far Kvernberg takes the project.
