BarokkBoreal and Ladegåren invite the whole family to an afternoon with music, dance, storytelling (in Norwegian), games and refreshments, as they recreate the old tradition of "julestue".

"Julestue" was a prevalent small-town tradition in the Nordic countries during the 17th and 18th centuries. Held late at night, the main objective was to dance, play and have fun, and the "julestue" was actually one of the few occasions where the youth could come together and get to know each other. The parties were were so popular, cheerful and boisterous that more than one king tried to forbid them. This Sunday at Oslo Ladegård you can experience a "julestue" that is adapted to our time, but which also brings back some of the old and mostly forgotten traditions. For more information, visit the event's Facebook page.
